MANDATORY SWIM GEAR

  • NEOPRENE WETSUITS - Full wrist-to-ankle wetsuits are mandatory.

  • NEOPRENE ACCESSORIES - Neoprene caps, booties/socks are mandatory and gloves (non webbed) are optional.

  • GOGGLES - Some type of swim goggle is mandatory. We recommend a fairly new pair with limited use and also a variety to choose from (clear and tinted) to accommodate different weather conditions event morning.

MANDATORY BIKE GEAR

  • HELMETS - All athletes for all events must wear a well-fitting, chin strap secure and safety inspected helmet at all times. The helmet must have the CPSC inspected sticker. Any country’s safety inspection CPSC is just fine for this event.

  • FACE SHEILD OR SUNGLASSES - Some type of eye protection is mandatory.

  • HIGH VIS/REFLECTIVE TOPS - All athletes must wear a top-to-bottom highly visible (neon) top that has reflective elements. This is for your own safety so don’t wear the bare minimum.

  • LIGHTS - All athletes must have lights on the front and back of their bike at all times during the bike portion of the event. We require a constant bright white light on the front and a bright red blinking light on the back. If battery life is an issue a batteries or replacement lights should be carried by the athlete or support crew.

  • MECHANICAL SUPPLIES - The event will not provide mechanical supplies or assistance during the ride. For this reason all athletes and support should be well-versed in changing flats and basic mechanical adjustments as well as carry a basic tool kit and supplies on them or in their support vehicles.

  • HYDRATION/NUTRITION - At least 1 bike support crew member is mandatory and only 1 support vehicle is allowed. The event will not provide any hydration/nutrition on the bike course. It is the responsibility of the rider and their support crew to make sure that between the athlete and the vehicle there is enough substance to get the athlete through the course.

  • CELL PHONES - All athletes and support crew must have a working and charged cell phone on them at all times while on the bike course. This will, at times, require an external battery, with cord, to give your phone a charge.

  • BASIC FIRST AID KIT - All athletes must have access to a basic first aid kit to treat minor medical issues that may arise during the bike.

MANDATORY RUN GEAR

  • HYDRATION/NUTRITION PACKS - Athletes and support crew (when/if on the course) are required to wear some type of pack or belt that is capable of holding a combination of hydration/nutrition that is sufficient enough to get them at least from refueling station to refueling stations. At Ísland they are approximately every 10k on the run.

  • SUNGLASSES - Some type of eye protection is mandatory, clear or tinted.

  • CELL PHONES - All athletes and support crew must have a working and charged cell phone on them at all times while on the run course. This will, at times, require an external battery, with cord, to give your phone a charge.

  • APPAREL - It is mandatory that all athletes and support crew (when/if on the course) carry some type of warm hat, gloves, extra pair of socks, and a long sleeve lightweight water resistant jacket or base layer because of the possibility of bad weather.

  • BASIC FIRST AID KIT - All athletes and support crew (when/if on the course) must have access to a basic first aid kit to treat minor medical issues that may arise during the run.

  • WHISTLE & COMPASS - All athletes and support crew (when/if on the course) must carry a whistle on them for emergencies. Additionally we require everyone carry a compass but it is permitted to simply have a compass on your phone (app or map GPS) since everyone will have that on them and charged all the time anyway.
